Bio

Never shying away from textured mixed-media portraits or expressive figure drawings, Leo P. Carney’s energetic art practice explores self-intimacy, intersectionality, and the question, “Am I enough?”. He aims to have each of his pieces to serve as invitations to look past the parameters and social norms set on us to find true identity in oneself. Carney has created works for a stationery shop and a film festival and has exhibited at the Brand Library even when his work was censored by the city of Glendale during pride month. Pushing past censorship, his love for the relationship between muse and artist has brought him to model in the nude for multiple Artists in Residence for the Tom of Finland Foundation.
